UII is committed to educating students to become future global leaders by providing opportunities for international students to learn along with UII. Every year UII has offered Future Global Leaders Scholarships (FGLS) to high school graduates and bachelor degree holders from overseas with a quota of 50 international students to study in Applied Studies, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate Programs.

*To be eligible for the scholarship, students must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale.

Requirements

Eligible candidates:

  1. Secondary school/senior high school education graduates, bachelor or master degree holders
  2. Have excellent study results 
  3. Not holders of any other scholarships or grants (if you apply to our scholarship program)

Required documents:

  1. Scan of graduation certificate and academic transcript (please provide the official translation documents in English)
  2. Scan of passport’s identity page
  3. Health statement*
  4. Curriculum vitae/resume
  5. Motivation letter
  6. Language proficiency certificate (English/Indonesian Language)**
    • English proficiency test score: a minimum requirement of B1 level or equivalent to a TOEFL score of 500, an IELTS score of 5 or Duolingo score 75-80 
    • Bahasa Indonesia proficiency is equivalent to level 4 (Madya; a score of 482 or above) of the Test of Indonesian Language Proficiency/Uji Kemahiran Bahasa Indonesia (UKBI) (if any)
  7. Letter of financial commitment*
  8. Declaration to obey the Indonesian law and not to work during study*
  9. Official-size passport photograph with a red background size 3×4 cm

Application Process

SIGN UP: Sign up at admisi.uii.ac.id and fill in the form to create NIU (admission number)*. The documents to be prepared for NIU application are the scan of your national ID or passport, and your formal passport-size photo.

APPLY: Choose International Admission, select 3 study programs for your study options, fill in all required data and documents to be uploaded.

MONITOR: Monitor your application progress by accessing your NIU at admisi.uii.ac.id. Selected applications will be invited for an online interview. For any queries, you can contact [email protected].

VERIFY: UII administrators will verify your application and inform the interview schedule in your account.

INTERVIEW: Attend the interview test as scheduled by the UII team. The interview test will consist of academic and scholarship selection interviews.

ACCEPT: Receive the letter of admission and study agreement to be signed and sent to your account at admisi.uii.ac.id. We will send a letter of award for those accepted as UII FGLS 2024 holders after completing the mandatory Indonesian language intensive classes.

ENROL: Be enrolled at UII; you will receive a student number and identity card after completing the enrollment data.

PREPARE: Prepare your departure to Indonesia and join the orientation programs.

* NIU should be saved and memorized because it is not sent to your email.

Acceptance Procedure

If your application is successful, you will receive:

  • Letter of admission
  • Study agreement

You have to fill out the study agreement and sign it, which means you accept all terms, conditions, and regulations at UII. After completing the agreement, please kindly upload it to your UII account at admisi.uii.ac.id

After the document is verified, you will be notified to finalize your enrollment at UII by filling in your detailed data. You will receive a student card after you upload your picture at your UII Gateway.

Indonesian Language and Culture Program

International students accepted at UII are mandatory  to take the Indonesian Language for Foreigner/Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing (BIPA) course in Indonesia for two months for those accepted in the International Study Program (IP) and one year for those accepted in the Regular Study Program.

Scholarships Information

The Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) Scholarship is financial assistance from the Indonesian Government. It offers international students from developing countries to pursue their master’s and doctorate degrees at Indonesian universities. KNB provides the experience of studying in top universities in Indonesia and, at the same time living in one of the world’s most diverse and vibrant societies. By getting the scholarship, students will experience quality bachelor and postgraduate programs managed by 31 prominent universities in Indonesia, including Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII). The KNB program objectives are as follows:
  1. To contribute to the human resource development in the developing countries.
  2. To promote deeper cultural understanding among developing countries.
  3. To strengthen the relationship and cooperation among developing countries.
Programs at UII

The KNB Scholarship is offered to potential students from developing countries to get their degrees in master’s and doctorate programs in various studies.

Program Structure
  1. Indonesian Language Training Program (BIPA)
    All KNB students must complete the 1-year Indonesian Language Training Program at UII because the academic activities at the university will be conducted in Bahasa. UII will coordinate the BIPA Program.
  2. Preparatory Program
    UII will hold the preparatory Program before the academic program to inform the university’s policy and program planning.
  3. Academic Program
    The maximum length of scholarship disbursement:
    • 8 (eight) semesters of Doctorate Degree Program. Two schemes of doctorate degrees are offered under the KNB Scholarship: a doctorate program by research and a doctorate program by coursework and research. An extension of a maximum of 2 (two) semesters can be granted on a case-by-case basis based on the assessment of individual specific cases
    • 4 (four) semesters for Master Degree Program
How to Apply
  1. Download the KNB Scholarship Offering Letter from the KNB Scholarship website: https://knb.kemdikbud.go.id/
  2. Submit the Offering Letter, Official Passport, English Proficiency Test, (Applicant from non-English-Speaking Countries), Recommendation Letter from the Indonesian Embassy, Recommendation from Employer/Immediate Supervisor, Academic Recommendation Letter from Previous Schools, Academic Certificates and Academic Transcripts from Previous Degree, Recommendation Letter from the potential research supervisor in one of the Universities providing partner of the KNB Scholarship (for Doctoral applicant only), Statement of purpose of their studies in Indonesia (for Doctoral applicant only) in website KNB Scholarship;
  3. Complete the online application process.
  4. Selection process.
  5. The Selection Results will be broadcasted online through the KNB Scholarship Website and officially announced through the Indonesian Embassy publication network.

Applicant’s Eligibility
Master Programs
  1. The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 35 years old.
  2. Hold a Bachelor degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa). Please be advised that Master degree holder is not eligible to apply for the Master Degree scholarship.
  3. Have the English Proficiency Test Scores: TOEFL ITP of 500, TOEFL IBT of 61, IELTS of 6.0, TOEIC of 575 (the certificate must be obtained within the last 2 years). Participants of foreign nationality who come from English-speaking countries, or participants from a university who are enrolled in programs in English (stated in participant diploma/transcript) are not required to submit the English proficiency document by attaching official proof from their home university.
  4. Provide the recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General.
  5. Provide a recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from The employer/immediate supervisor in English or Bahasa (if working).
  6. Provide Academic Recommendation Letters from previous schools in English or Bahasa
  7. Provide Academic Certificate and Academic Transcript of Bachelor Degree in English or Bahasa.
  8. Proof of citizenship by submitting an Official Passport valid for at least 2 years.
  9. Complete the online application form; knb kemdikbud
  10. *Note: Please be advised that documents (2), (5), (6), and (7) must be in English or Bahasa
Doctoral Programs
  1. The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 40 years old.
  2. Hold a Master degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa). Please be advised that a Doctorate Degree holder is not eligible to apply for the Doctorate Degree scholarship.
  3. Obtain a recommendation letter in English or Bahasa from the potential research supervisor in one of the universities providing partners of the KNB Scholarship.
  4. Provide a statement of purpose that at least states the purpose of their studies, the origin of their interest in studying in Indonesia and pursuing their chosen research topic and their plan for the academic future (dissertation proposal) in English or Bahasa.
  5. Have the English Proficiency Test Score: TOEFL ITP of 530, TOEFL IBT of 71, IELTS of 6.0, TOEIC of 640 (the certificate must be obtained within the last 2 Years). Participants of foreign nationality who come from English-speaking countries or participants from a university who are enrolled in programs in English (stated in participant diploma/transcript) are not required to submit the English proficiency document by attaching official proof from their home university.
  6. Provide the recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General.
  7. Provide a recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from The employer/immediate supervisor in English or Bahasa (if working).
  8. Provide Academic Recommendation Letters from previous schools in English or Bahasa.
