Future Global Leaders Scholarships at Universitas Islam Indonesia

Scholarships Information

UII is committed to educating students to become future global leaders by providing opportunities for international students to learn along with UII. Every year UII has offered Future Global Leaders Scholarships (FGLS) to high school graduates and bachelor degree holders from overseas with the quota:

  1. 44 international students to study in a Diploma Degree, Applied Degree, or Bachelor Degree Programs at UII under the FGLS Regular Scheme; and
  2. 6 international students to study in Bachelor Degree and Master Degree Programs under the FGLS Partnership Scheme with the Yemeni Embassy in Jakarta. This FGLS Partnership scheme will require you to submit a recommendation letter from the Yemeni Embassy in Jakarta to apply at UII.

* The allowance will be granted if you reach a minimum GPA of 2.75 out of 4.00. The GPA will be monitored by the reviewer team every semester.

The general requirements to apply:

  1. Are secondary school/senior high school education graduates or bachelor degree holders;
  2. Have achieved excellent results of the study; and
  3. Are not holders of any other scholarships or grants (if you apply to our scholarship program).

You need to apply online at Admisi UII and fill out the form completely.
The required documents to start the online application are:

  1. Certified copies of your graduation certificate and academic transcript (please provide the official translation documents in English);
  2. The coloured scan of your passport ID;
  3. Official statement of good health*;
  4. Current curriculum vitae/resume;
  5. Motivation letter;
  6. Language proficiency certificate (English/Indonesian Language)**
    • English proficiency test score: a minimum requirement of B1 level or equivalent to a TOEFL score of 500, an IELTS score of 5 or Duolingo score 75-80.
    • Bahasa Indonesia proficiency is equivalent to level 4 (Madya; a score of 482 or above) of the Test of Indonesian Language Proficiency/Uji Kemahiran Bahasa Indonesia (UKBI) (if any).
  7. Declared statement that you will not work on your study visa and will obey the Indonesian law*; and
  8. Passport-sized photos with a red background.

ADMIT: Sign up at admisi.uii.ac.id and fill in the form to create NIU (admission number)*. The documents to be prepared for NIU application are the scan of your national ID or passport, and your formal pose photo.
APPLY: Choose International Admission, select 3 study programs that you want to study, fill in all required data and documents to be uploaded
VERIFY: UII admin will verify your application
MONITOR: Monitor your application progress by accessing your NIU at admisi.uii.ac.id. Selected applications will be invited for an interview test. For any queries, you can contact [email protected]
ATTEND ENGLISH TEST (IF NECESSARY): Attend the English proficiency test as scheduled by UII team. Those who pass the test will be invited to the interview.
INTERVIEW: Attend the interview test as scheduled by the UII team. The interview test will consist of academic and scholarship selection interviews
ACCEPT: Receive the letter of admission and study agreement to be signed and sent to admisi.uii.ac.id. We will send a letter of award for those accepted as UII FGLS 2022 holders after completing the obligatory Indonesian language intensive classes before the program starts.
ENROL: Be enrolled at UII; you will receive a student number and identity card. Please see the further information on the enrolment procedure.
PREPARE: Prepare your departure to Indonesia and join the orientation programs.
* NIU should be saved and memorized because it is not sent to your email.

If your application is successful, you will receive:

  • A letter of admission
  • A study agreement

You have to fill out the study agreement and sign it, which means you accept all terms, conditions, and regulations at UII. After completing the agreement, please kindly send it to admisi.uii.ac.id with your NIU account.
After the document is verified, you will be notified to finalize your enrolment at UII by filling in your detailed data. You will receive a student card after the completed data are submitted.

International students accepted at UII are mandatory to take the Indonesian Language for Foreigner/Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing (BIPA) course in Indonesia for two months for those accepted in the International Study Program (IP) and one year for those accepted in the Regular Study Program. Please see the important dates to know the expected arrival to start the BIPA Program.

KNB Scholarships at Universitas Islam Indonesia

Scholarships Information

The Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) Scholarship is financial assistance from the Indonesian Government. It offers international students from developing countries to pursue their master’s and doctorate degrees at Indonesian universities.

KNB provides the experience of studying in top universities in Indonesia and, at the same time living in one of the world’s most diverse and vibrant societies. By getting the scholarship, students will experience quality bachelor and postgraduate programs managed by 27 prominent universities in Indonesia, including Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII). The KNB program objectives are as follows:

  1. To contribute to the human resource development in the developing countries.
  2. To promote deeper cultural understanding among developing countries.
  3. To strengthen the relationship and cooperation among developing countries.

The KNB Scholarship is offered to potential students from developing countries to get their degrees in master’s and doctorate programs in various studies.

  2. Submit the invitation letter, curriculum vitae, valid passport (personal data page only), academic certificates (in English), academic transcripts (in English), TOEFL or IELTS score certificate (or other English Proficiency test) obtained within the last two years, motivation letter, dissertation proposal and academic references from the potential research supervisor from Indonesian University (for Doctorate program), to the Indonesian Embassy or Indonesian Consulate to acquire the recommendation; letter;
  3. Complete the online application process;
  4. Selection process;
  5. The Selection results will be broadcasted online through the KNB Scholarship Website and officially announced through the Indonesian Embassy publication network.

KNB Scholarship Offer Letter

  1. A settlement allowance of IDR 1,500,000 will be given to new students upon their arrival in Indonesia;
  2. While taking the Indonesian language course and preparatory programs, the new students will only receive a living allowance per month;
  3. During the academic program, the KNB students will receive a monthly allowance that consists of a living allowance and a research and book allowance;
  4. A health insurance with a maximum of IDR 400,000 monthly premium (In case of the cost of medical services exceeded to those covered by the health insurance, the difference should be borne by the student);
  5. A round-trip international airfare (economy class) from the international airport of the student’s home country to Indonesia, including local transport to the host university;
  6. Please be advised that the KNB Scholarship is calculated to support the KNB Student costs only. There is no provision for dependents. KNB students are advised not to bring dependents to Indonesia. The KNB Scholarship provides no financial or pastoral support for dependents and will not endorse the visa applications of, nor provide travel for, dependents.
    Note: Other expenses beside above mentioned items will be considered as personal expenses and will be borne by the students.
  7. The duration of the scholarship is exclusively correlated to the time of the academic program as indicated below:

    1 Indonesian Language Course and Master Preparatory Program Maximum 12 months
    2 Doctorate Program Maximum 36 months (6 semesters)
    3 Master Program Maximum 24 months (4 semesters)
    4 Bachelor Program Maximum 48 months (8 semesters)

Please be noted that in case of early program completion, all scholarships payment will be stopped by the time the awardee set off for home (returning to home country).

Master Programs

  1. The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 35 years old.
  2. Hold a bachelor degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English). Please be advised that a master’s degree holder is not eligible to apply for the Master’s Degree scholarship.
  3. Have at least the IBT TOEFL score of 80, IELTS score of 6.0, or TOEIC score of 700 (the certificate must have been obtained within the last 2 Years).
  4. Provide the recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General.
  5. Provide a recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from The employer/immediate supervisor (in English).
  6. Provide an Academic Recommendation Letter from previous schools (in English).
  7. Prove of citizenship (Official Passport or Personal ID).

Doctoral Programs

  1. The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 40 years old.
  2. Hold a master degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English). Please be advised that a Doctorate degree holder is not eligible to apply.
  3. Obtain a recommendation letter from the potential research supervisor in one of the universities providing partner of the KNB Scholarship.
  4. Provide a statement of purpose that at least states the purpose of their studies, the origin of their interests in studying in Indonesia and pursuing their chosen research topic, and their plans for the academic future and dissertation proposal (in English).
  5. Have a TOEFL or IELTS (or other certified English Proficiency Test) score of 90 TOEFL IBT or 7.0 IELTS or equivalent (the certificate must be obtained within the last 2 Years).
  6. Provide a recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General.
  7. Attach a letter of recommendation for the KNB Scholarship application from the employer/direct supervisor (in English)
  8. Prove of citizenship (Official Passport or Personal ID).
  9. Attach a letter of recommendation from previous universities (in English).

KNB Applicant Guide
Program Structure

  1. Indonesian Language Training Program
    A one-year Indonesian Language (Bahasa) course is compulsory for all KNB students as all courses required to complete the program (lecture and thesis) will be conducted in Bahasa. Each University will provide the Bahasa course.
  2. Preparatory program
    A preparatory program before the program will be arranged in accordance with the university’s policy and program planning.
  3. Academic Program
    The maximum length of the scholarships:

    • 4 semesters for the Master Degree program.
    • 6 semesters for the Doctorate Degree program.

To successfully complete the program, it is important for all KNB students to consistently produce a good academic performance by developing a can-do attitude and staying focused, punctual, and disciplined.
