The Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) Scholarship is a financial assistance program provided by the Government of Indonesia for international students from developing countries to pursue undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees at selected Indonesian universities.

The program was initiated following the 10th Conference of Heads of State of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in 1992 and was initially offered exclusively to NAM member countries. In 2002, due to growing international interest, the program was expanded beyond NAM and officially renamed the KNB Scholarship.

The KNB Scholarship aims to strengthen people-to-people relations between Indonesia and partner countries while developing future global leaders through higher education. Recipients study at leading Indonesian institutions and gain valuable exposure to Indonesia’s diverse academic and cultural environment through a network of 47 partner universities.

Since 2006, the KNB Scholarship has supported 2,299 students from 107 countries. In 2026, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, together with host universities, continues to implement the program for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral education.
