Organizing Your Arrival

As an international student in Indonesia, it is essential to maintain legal residency throughout your study period. You will enter Indonesia with a “student visa” and obtain a Limited Stay Permit (ITAS), which serves as your primary residency document.

According to Indonesian government regulations, international students are not permitted to work while studying in Indonesia.

During your stay, you may need to manage several administrative requirements:

  • Passport and address updates – Report any changes to immigration.
  • SKCK (Police Clearance Certificate) – Sometimes required before leaving Indonesia after graduation to apply for scholarships in other countries.
  • STM (Police Report Certificate) – A police report confirming your residence in Indonesia.
  • SKTT (Temporary Stay Certificate) – Issued by the local Civil Registry as proof of residence.
Keeping these documents valid and up to date is essential for a smooth and lawful stay. UII’s International Office will guide you through each process. Below is information about visas and stay permits in Indonesia.
